Job Summary:

The Office of Registrar, Division of Student Affairs at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time University Registrar. The successful candidate will: 

  • Be responsible for implementing academic-related academic standing and academic records.
  • Provide administrative support to the academic mission of the institution.
  • Oversee the management of the Banner Student Information System for the Office of the Registrar.
  • Be responsible for personnel supervision, training, and budget of the Office of the Registrar.
  • Manage all operational and administrative aspects of the office.
  • Play a key role in the review, development, and enforcement of academic policies and procedures for five schools and colleges within SUNY Downstate, including participation on key faculty committees.
  • Supervise all aspects of the maintenance, accuracy, and confidentiality of all student academic records.
  • Oversee semester grade processing, transcript issuance, licensure form completion, and all document processing.
  • Manage the electronic preservation (document imaging) of archival records as part of the Banner Xlander software.
  • Monitor and provide all reporting of enrollment data to the National Clearinghouse, AAMC, the National Board of Medical Examiners, etc.
  • Monitor and track all student loan defaults and supervision of all holds and/or releases of holds on records.
  • Liaise with Bursar and Financial Aid for Satisfactory Academic Process (SA).

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of full-time experience in a Registrar Office in a college/university or health science center setting, including 3 years of experience in a leadership position.
  • Ability to manage complex records and information in the academic setting, involving computer systems in support of the administrative and academic processes.
  • Strong management skills.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Banner Student Information System.
  • Banner Xtender Software is a plus.

Work Schedule:

Monday to Friday; 9am to 5pm
