Job Summary:

The Department of Employee Health Services at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Administrative Assistant.

The successful candidate will: 

  • Conduct data entry of employees into department database.
  • Answer telephones, direct calls and retrieve front desk messages from voicemail in a timely manner.
  • Register patients in Eagle systems.
  • Order laboratory tests as per clinicians' instructions.
  • Follow Hospital HIPPA rules and regulations.
  • Greet all patients and visitors to departments in a respectful, professional, and cordial manner.
  • Scan employees' medical records to Alpha docs system.
  • Work closely with the office manager and the Director of Student/Employee Health Services as needed.
  • Perform other tasks and job duties as assigned. 

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree.
  • Prior experience in a hospital or industrial safety or health setting is highly desirable.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, as well as strong interpersonal communication skills. 
  • Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel, Access).
  • Strong record-keeping skills.
