Job Summary:

The Department of Clinical Laboratories at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Supervisor / Point of Care Testing Coordinator, Associate Technical Director. The successful candidate will:

  • Maintain compliance with departmental, hospital and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate Point of Care testing program.
  • Supervise day to day laboratory operations, review quality control, and performance improvement activities.
  • Assure timely performance of laboratory testing procedures.
  • Train personnel in technical methodologies and interpretation of results.
  • Record and archive operational tests and QC results.
  • Maintain inventory and statistics.
  • Schedule and assign staff to specific job functions.
  • Assist in coordinating administrative operations for the laboratories.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to the needs of the business as the duties and responsibilities are not limited to the above description. 

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of supervisory experience in hospital-based laboratories. 
  • New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist Licensure. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree or equivalent in Medical Technology, Physical or Biological Sciences.
  • ASCP certification. 

Work Schedule:

Variable Days; Variable Hours

Salary Grade/Rank:

SL-5

Salary Range:

Commensurate with experience and qualifications
