Job Summary:

The Midwifery Program in the School of Health Professions at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a part-time Clinical Assistant Professor (12 Months). The successful candidate will:

  • Teach graduate level Midwifery courses.
  • Provide student advisement.
  • Serve on various program/school/university committees.
  • Participate in the student admissions process.
  • Serve as a Clinical Coordinator, to include:
    • Identification and development of sites.
    • Maintain communication with sites.
    • Work with school Contract Coordinator.
    • Serve as the faculty liaison to sites.
    • Utilize electronic program for student data and evaluation.
    • Maintain files for clinical preceptors.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to perform other duties/responsibilities to meet the needs of students and the program.  

Required Qualifications:

  • New York State Midwifery Licensure.
  • Master's Degree in Midwifery or related field.
  • 3+ years of clinical experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in Midwifery or related field preferred.
  • 2 to 3 years of teaching experience (classroom and/or clinical) preferred.
