Job Summary:

The Department of Anesthesiology at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Anesthesia Technician / TH CTS Anesthesia Associate. The successful candidate will:

  • Be responsible for set-up calibration and troubleshooting.
  • Perform maintenance of anesthesia machines and patient monitoring equipment in every operating room and Endoscopy Suite.
  • Prepare Cell Saver and disinfecting.
  • Maintain specific records for use of salvaged blood - under direction of Director-Blood Bank.
  • Be responsible for inventory control of anesthesia supplies and drugs for OR and OB.
  • Distribute anesthesia supplies and drugs for Pre-Operative unit and Endoscopy Suite.
  • Interact with SMIC to solve technical problems with anesthesia equipment.
  • Assist Anesthesia personnel with all needs for supplies and special equipment.
  • Assist Anesthesiologist in preparing equipment for difficult airway/fiber-optic intubations.
  • Assist with ultrasound guidance for regional blocks, examinations, rapid infusion/blood warmers, and other technical needs. 
  • Troubleshoot any new equipment and operation of new equipment related to the anesthetic management of patients receiving organ transplants.
  • Assist with placement of invasive monitoring.
  • Perform other job related duties as required.

Required Qualifications:

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Biomedical Engineering OR a graduate of an ASATT approved program, including a clinical component.
  • 2+ years of experience as Anesthesia Technician. 

Work Schedule:

Monday to Friday; 7:00am to 3:00pm

Salary Grade/Rank:

SL-2

Salary Range:

Commensurate with experience and qualifications
