Job Summary:

The Department of Radiology at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time CT/MRI Technologist / TH Medical Radiographer I (Evenings). The successful candidate will: 

  • Demonstrate the ability to perform all MRI and CT procedures with established protocols, without direct supervision.
  • Demonstrate the ability to perform Interventional Radiology procedures.
  • Responsible for patient care while performing imaging, including accuracy of patient identification/correct procedure/correct laterality.
  • Demonstrate ability to deal with emergent situations and coordinate work schedules to facilitate patient procedures.
  • Maintain conditions in MRI and CT areas which foster an environment focused on patient safety.
  • Have prior experience with computerized patient information systems, including Radiology Information Systems and PACS.
  • Complete all exams immediately in RIS, and verify on PACS.
  • When necessary, burn CDs and DVDs.
  • Be flexible, as hours may change on an as-needed basis according to departmental operating needs.
  • Adhere to all SUNY Downstate Medical Center and department policies and procedures, including principles of behavior.
  • Maintain the principle of ALARA.
  • Responsible for maintaining supplies and checking for expired items on a monthly basis.
  • Responsible for maintaining all patient-related logs (i.e. patient incidents/CTDI vol. infiltrate's/etc.).
  • Perform daily/weekly, monthly quality assurance on MRI and CT equipment and document such.
  • Responsible for informing supervisor when equipment is offline including contacting service and recording the service ticket number.
  • Attend all department-sponsored in-services relative to MRI, CT, IR, and departmental issues.
  • Maintain a courteous and pleasant disposition with patients. 
  • Adhere to time and attendance policies.
  • Perform other tasks as required. 

Required Qualifications:

  • New York State Licensure as a Radiological Technologist with DOH injection certification required to perform MRI and CT exams.
  • Experience in diagnostic interventional radiology procedure. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ARRT MRI or CT registration preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in all diagnostic MRI and Cat Scan Radiology procedures preferred.
  • Hospital experience preferred. 

Work Schedule:

Monday to Friday; 4:00pm to 12:00am (Full-Time Evenings)

SL-3

Commensurate with experience and qualifications
