Job Summary:

The Department of Radiology at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking an hourly/per diem CT/MRI Technologist / TH Medical Radiographer 1 (Evenings). The successful candidate will:

  • Be a NYS Licensed Radiological Technologist with DOH injection certification required to perform MRI and CT exams.
  • Be ARRT certified in MRI or CT (MRI CT registry eligible) with current BCLS certification/ and maintain all required CE’s for continued certification.
  • Demonstrate the ability to perform all MRI and CT procedures with established protocols, without supervision.
  • Demonstrate the ability to perform Interventional Radiology procedures.
  • Be responsible for patient care while performing imaging, to include accuracy of patient identification/correct procedure/correct laterally.
  • Demonstrate the ability to deal with emergent situations and coordinates work schedule to facilitate patient procedures.
  • Maintain conditions in MRI and CT area which foster an environment focused on patient safety,
  • Demonstrate prior experience with computerized patient information systems, including Radiology information Systems and PACS.
  • Be accountable for immediately completing all exams in RIS and verify on PACS.
  • Conduct the burning CD’s and DVD’s.
  • Demonstrate flexibility as hours may change on an as needed basis according to departmental business/operation needs.
  • Adhere to all SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University and department policies and procedures, to include principle of behavior.
  • Maintain principle of ALARA.
  • Be responsible for maintaining supplies and checking for expired items on a monthly basis.
  • Be responsible for maintaining all patient related logs (i.e. pt. incidents/CTDI vol./infiltrates/ etc.)
  • Perform daily/weekly/monthly QA on MRI and CT equipment and document such.
  • Be responsible for informing supervisor when equipment is offline including contacting service and recording the service ticket number.
  • Attend all department sponsored in-services relative to MRI, CT, IR and departmental issues.
  • Maintain a courteous and professional disposition with all patients and employees.
  • Adhere to time and attendance policy.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and perform other job related tasks as needed/required to meet business demand.

Required Qualifications:

  • New York State Medical Radiography Licensure.
  • ARRT Certification. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MRI or CT registration.
  • 2+ years of experience in all diagnostic MRI and Cat Scan Radiology procedures in a hospital setting.
  • Experience in Diagnostic Interventional Radiology procedures.  

Work Schedule:

Variable Days; 4:00pm to 12:00am (Hourly/Per Diem Evenings)

SL-3

Commensurate with experience and qualifications
