Job Summary:
|
The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation Medicine at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time TH Staff Assistant. The successful candidate will:
- Report to a Division Administrator, Director, or the Executive Administrator within the department.
- Perform clinical division-level administrative support, liaison, and office coordination for any and all physicians within the division.
- Support patient care clerical and administrative activities, including efficient throughput, while trying to optimize the patient experience across the care continuum.
- Coordinate clerical work activities by determining appropriate work priorities and methods.
- Develops and implements short- and long-term strategies to support departmental goals. Regularly assesses progress using data from Excel, EHR systems, and other reporting tools. Applies analytical thinking and creative problem-solving to meet objectives.
- Maintains personnel records in compliance with organizational policies. Conducts performance evaluations, monitors staff productivity, and supports ongoing professional development.
- Continuously improves clinic workflows and patient throughput while upholding high standards of compassionate care. Applies Lean Six Sigma principles to streamline processes and enhance the overall patient experience.
- Supports billing operations by ensuring accurate documentation and record-keeping. Collaborates with providers and billing staff to improve collections and enhance revenue cycle performance.
- Tracks physician productivity and billing metrics. Works closely with providers to boost efficiency and collections. Develops procedures to improve billing accuracy and maximize revenue.
- Compiles, analyzes, and forecasts operational and financial data. Prepares regular performance reports for departmental leadership using data from multiple sources.
- Ensures adherence to all departmental policies, regulatory requirements, and safety standards. Maintains a strong focus on quality assurance, environmental health, and infection control.

Preferred Qualifications:
|
- Master's Degree in Healthcare Management
- 2+ years of experience in a supervisory/administrative capacity in a multi-specialty healthcare system with multiple care sites.
- Proficiency in data analysis, forecasting, and strategic implementation.
- Proficiency with multiple EHR and data platforms.
- Lean Six Sigma experience
