Job Summary:
|
The Department of Administrative Services at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Central Receiving Clerk / Office Assistant 1 (Stores/Mail). The successful candidate will:
- Perform a range of clerical and logistical support tasks related to the intake, verification, and distribution of supplies and equipment delivered to the hospital.
- Receive and inspect shipments, reconciling packing slips with purchase orders, documenting deliveries, and coordinating the timely routing of items to end-user departments.
- Monitor for damages or discrepancies and communicating with vendors or purchasing staff as needed to ensure resolution.
- Receive, pick up, deliver, open, appropriately record, time stamp, sort, and distribute mail, e-mail, or other forms of correspondence or communication, or goods, materials, or stores.
- Maintain files, correspondence, documents, records, materials, and stores pursuant to guidelines.
- Maintain various listings for mail service purposes.
- Process outgoing mail by inserting letters into envelops, sealing envelopes, and applying correct postage.

Required Qualifications:
|
- Candidates will have sat for the New York State Department of Civil Service certification examination for Office Assistant 1 (Stores/Mail) and achieved a reachable score on a certified canvass.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, moving and unpacking packages.
- Ability to operate material handling equipment such has hand trucks and pallet jacks safely.
- Must have quality interpersonal, organizational, and customer service communication skills.
- Basic PC and iPad computer skills.
