Job Summary:

The Division of Geriatric Psychiatry in the College of Medicine at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a part-time Clinical Research Coordinator / Clinical Instructor (HS). Working for a Principal Investigator (PI), the Clinical Research Instructor (CRC) will:

  • Ensure study is compliant with local and federal laws and regulations.
  • Review protocols and take all requisite sponsor training.
  • Ensure PI and clinical study team complete requisite trainings, sign sponsor forms and required paperwork.
  • Conduct advertising, recruitment and follow up, including screening potential study participants.
  • Prepare and submit IRB applications and amendments for approval, along with the PI and/or study staff.
  • Conduct informed consent for study participants.
  • Perform initial intake assessments.
  • Perform phlebotomy, run labs and ECG’s as required by protocol.
  • Administer standardized psychometric screening instruments as required by protocols.
  • Coordinate and schedule procedures, participant visits and follow up visits with the appropriate lab, location and personnel, including CTSC.
  • Create and/or maintain all documents and study records related to the study, including uploading into sponsors electronic record.
  • Answer and address study participants questions and concerns.
  • Inventory of equipment and supplies related to the study and orders as needed.
  • Prepare and package shipment of labs to sponsors, following regulations for dry ice, etc.
  • Record and track patient data.
  • Respond in a timely manner to all sponsor questions and concerns.
  • Work with the Office of Research Administration (ORA) contract and clinical budget team.
  • Prepare and submit eCRF’s and invoices to sponsors, coordinating with the ORA clinical budget team.
  • Prepare and review, along with the PI and study team, all AE’s and SAE’s and submit to IRB and sponsor, as appropriate.
  • Process payments to study participants and track payments.
  • Meet routinely with ORA clinical budget team to review billing.
  • Attend study meetings (travel and Zoom) as required by sponsor.
  • Prepare and maintain study binders in compliance with FDA regulations.

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of previous experience as a Clinical Research Coordinator.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Superior organizational and time management skills.
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision and also as part of a team.
  • Skilled with standard computer programs, including the MS Office Suite.
  • Familiar with CT.GOV reporting in the PRS system.
  • Understanding of medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of CPT codes.
  • Understanding of standard clinical procedures and protocols.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to speak a second language.
  • Knowledge of ClinCard.
  • Prior experience in a university setting of academic medical center.
  • Phlebotomy certified.
  • Prior experience performing ECG.
  • Experience with biomarker/blood sample storage and shipment.
  • SOCRA certified.
  • Nursing or Physician Assistant Degree.
